in Ipoh.

Understanding PicoWay®: revolutionary pigment removal

PicoWay® delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses, creating a photoacoustic effect that shatters pigment into extremely tiny particles. Unlike traditional lasers that rely on photothermal effects, PicoWay® minimizes heat, which is crucial to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or worsening of melasma.

We utilize different PicoWay® handpieces and wavelengths to target specific concerns:

  • 532nm for superficial pigment
  • 730nm for a mix of superficial and deeper pigment
  • 1064nm for deep pigment
  • Resolve handpiece for acne scars, pores, and texture remodeling

PicoWay® effectively addresses conditions such as melasma, sun spots, age spots, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), Hori’s nevus, Nevus of Ota, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, fine lines, and tattoos.

Why PIFU Clinic is your trusted choice for PicoWay® in Ipoh

PIFU Clinic stands out as the premier destination for PicoWay® treatment in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. We use an authentic PicoWay® system with its original multi-wavelength platform (532nm, 730nm, and 1064nm). This ensures genuine results, unlike the questionable "pico-like" devices sometimes found in salons or centers using misleading marketing.

Our clinic is led by Dr. Sean Tan G.S., an LCP-certified aesthetic physician with extensive experience in dermatology and laser-based treatments. Prior to founding PIFU Clinic, Dr. Sean was instrumental in training new doctors at Dr. Ko HQ, emphasizing proper assessment before simply "shooting laser" and adopting conservative but effective settings.

Our goal is to achieve better long-term improvement while minimizing complications such as rebound pigmentation or excessive irritation, rather than just temporary lightening. We understand the aesthetic industry is often flooded with counterfeit devices and aggressive marketing. At PIFU Clinic, we are committed to providing transparent, effective, and safe treatments you can trust.

Is PicoWay® right for you?

PicoWay® treatment is ideal for individuals seeking significant improvements in their skin. It’s also suitable for those with stubborn pigmentation who have tried other treatments without success, and individuals already committed to a proper skincare regimen but still unable to achieve their desired results.
Busy individuals looking for lower downtime rejuvenation and patients seeking genuine treatment results rather than just chasing promotional packages will find PicoWay® highly beneficial. However, if you do not follow a dedicated skincare routine, PicoWay® may not be the most suitable treatment for you.

It benefits those with freckles, sun spots, or age spots, as well as patients with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Selected melasma patients can also benefit after proper assessment.. The treatment is effective for birthmarks like Hori’s nevus or Nevus of Ota, and for acne scar patients looking for gradual texture improvement. If you desire smaller-looking pores, smoother texture, or multi-color tattoo removal, PicoWay® can be an excellent option.

Your PicoWay® treatment journey: what to expect

Your PicoWay® journey begins with a thorough assessment by our doctor to evaluate your specific pigment or condition. For your comfort, a numbing cream may be applied about 30–45 minutes beforehand, followed by a gentle face wash to prepare your skin. You will also be provided with protective eye goggles.

During the procedure, patients typically describe the sensation as small snapping or tingling feelings on the skin. Depending on your specific concern, different handpieces and wavelengths may be used:

  • 1064nm for deeper pigment and safer penetration
  • 730nm, which may produce red flashes during treatment
  • 532nm, which may produce green flashes during treatment
  • The Resolve handpiece for acne scars, pores, and texture remodeling

The treatment itself usually lasts around 30-45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Expect a longer session if your pigmentation is scattered or the stubborn kind.

Immediately after treatment, it is normal to experience:

  • Mild redness or swelling, which usually resolves within 4 hours
  • Temporary darkening of pigment before it flakes off within a week
  • Slight dryness or roughness for a few days.

Our team will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal results and comfort.
